The hotel sat close to several tavernas, at the centre of a lively tangle of traditional alleyways with great bars and restaurants, with the square just a street away. Pizzeria da Baffetto was steps from the hotel and I had supper there.”

Her scrambled eggs come from her own chickens and set you up well for a day of sightseeing. The rooms inside the palazzo were wonderful — with the windows open you could hear the lively street noise outside, and with them closed the room became a quiet sanctuary.”
